Where I'm going next

Everyone has to start somewhere.

I hate to exercise. We're talking absolute loathing here. I hear people talk about how good they feel after they work out, and I think, "Not me!" I also am not a fan of dropping dead of a heart attack any time soon, so a way to motivate myself had to be found. I considered buying a set of sationary bike pedals to go under my computer desk, but my husband said that was too pathetic even for me. After thinking about what I like to do and trying to come up with ways to get exercise while doing those things, I came up with a (very short) list. After my husband vetoed sex (well, he didn't veto it - just pointed out that his work schedule might interfere with my plans) and marathon shopping (he did flat-out veto this one - he doesn't want a second, third, or fourth job), I was left with only one viable option.

Since I like to go places, I will force myself to walk to them. Now, I don't mean I will actually be walking TO these places - some of them are either too far or too dangerous for that to be possible - no, I'll put the address of my house and the address of my destination into google maps, strap on a pedometer (which sounds a lot more fun than the reality, folks), and either walk in place or head out into the neighborhood. I've put a ticker at the top of the page, and I'll update it when I've made progress towards my goal. After I reach each goal, I'll change the destination/distance on the ticker taking myself to progessively farther places. The distance for each destination will be measured from my house to the goal site, but the distance itself will be cumulative - I eventually want to walk to DisneyWorld, and I'm not starting from scratch for that trip!

Anyway, my first goal will take me to my local WalMart. It may be hokey, but I spend a lot of time there.
